Taylor Hinds insists Everton Ladies will be gunning to turn their “frustration into motivation” as they remain three points above the relegation zone after a 0-0 draw with Brighton on Sunday.
The Blue Girls had hoped to go into the current international break with clear breathing space between themselves and bottom club Yeovil Town as they faced their fellow strugglers at the People’s Pension Stadium.
Despite dominating for large spells and going close through Inessa Kaagman, Angharad James and Elise Hughes, the Toffees just couldn’t find a way through against the Seagulls.
Hinds herself almost won it in added time when she powered in the box before seeing an effort well blocked.
A frustrating result then but the full-back insists the Blue Girls are determined to use that to fuel for their first game after the international break when they take on Chelsea in the FA Women’s Cup.
“The ball came to me in the last minute, so I thought I should just have a shot and see how it goes,” Hinds said of her last-gasp chance.
“Brighton were really good defensively. They put their bodies on the line and they defended really well so you can’t fault them. But it’s just frustrating.
“If you can’t take three points then one point is better than none at all. We’ve got a few weeks off now until we play Chelsea but taking this performance into that Cup tie is a real positive for us.
“We dominated the game. Obviously there were spells when Brighton looked aggressive but I thought we handled those well. It’s just frustrating that we didn’t get the three points.”
