Goal-Hungry Richarlison Sets Out Desire To Improve

Richarlison has set out his desire to continue improving, insisting the support of boss Marco Silva and the Everton fans can help elevate his game to new levels.

The dynamic forward has struck eight goals in just 15 Premier League appearances for the Blues since signing from Watford this summer.

The 21-year-old admitted his frustration he could not add to his tally as the Toffees were beaten 3-1 by Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.

Everton carved out several chances at the Etihad Stadium – with Richarlison going close to hitting the opener when he volleyed fractions over from Lucas Digne’s cross.

As it was, Pep Guardiola’s clinical side maintained their perfect home record, despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s second-half header sparking hopes of a comeback by Silva’s ambitious Blues.

Richarlison, who had netted in Everton’s previous two games, stressed his determination to get back on the goal trail when Tottenham Hotspur visit Goodison Park next Sunday.

“In general, I’m really happy with my goalscoring but I’m looking to improve, and I will continue to train really hard,” he said. “I’m looking to be up there with the top scorers, the other great players.

“I want to continue helping my teammates out and score more goals.

“Against City, I would have helped the team out if I scored that chance and I was upset not to finish it.

“But I’ll keep my head up and look to next week where I hope to score.

“We know how difficult it is to come City and play. We’re a young team, we’re still developing. And Marco Silva will work to correct the mistakes we made during the week ahead of the Tottenham game.”

Richarlison’s blistering start to his Everton career has seen him swiftly emerge as a fans’ favourite at Goodison.

The former Fluminense man's electric form also saw him win a first call-up to the senior Brazil squad in September.

He went on to hit a double on his full debut as the five-times world champions dispatched El Salvador 5-0 in Washington DC. He has remained a staple in Tite’s squad and headed an emphatic winner for Selecao as they edged out Cameroon 1-0 in Milton Keynes last month.

Richarlison believes the encouraging environment at Everton has given him the ideal platform to flourish.

“The fans have received me so well,” he said. “They’ve invented the songs for me and things like that, and that’s made me really happy.

“And I’m looking to pay them back and make them happy with what I do on the field.

“Now, we’re looking forward to a great game against Tottenham and hopefully getting those three points.”
