From The Vault: Stracqualursi Strike Helps See Off Chelsea

Two scorers, two memorable firsts. That was the story when Everton welcomed Chelsea to Goodison Park on Saturday, February 11, 2012.

The Blues were sitting 11th in the Premier League table ahead of kick-off against Andre Villas-Boas' men - a side seven places higher in fourth.

However, it was the hosts who struck first on a crisp Merseyside afternoon, Steven Pienaar marking the first Goodison outing of his return to the Club on loan from Spurs with a goal just five minutes in.

Despite a number of Chelsea chances, that’s how the scoreline remained until 19 minutes from the end when Denis Stracqualursi popped up to fire home what would prove his only Premier League goal for the Club.

Goalkeeper Tim Howard saved from future Blues striker Romelu Lukaku to deny the Londoners a consolation effort late on and seal a victory that saw David Moyes' Everton rise into the top half.
