Ademola Lookman believes Everton’s strong contingent of England Under-21 players have the quality to go far at next summer’s European Championships, after four Toffees played a key role in the young Lions' 7-0 triumph over Andorra on Thursday night.

Man-of-the-match Lookman lined up alongside Blues striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as well as Academy graduates Jonjoe Kenny and Tom Davies at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium, as a dominant England booked their spot at next summer's tournament with a game to spare.

Lookman got on the scoresheet - having been set up when Davies and Kenny combined - and was a constant menace throughout, while Calvert-Lewin bagged a brace as Aidy Boothroyd’s men turned on the style.

The 20-year-old winger is convinced Everton’s young talents can be part of a successful England side in Italy and San Marino next June.

“I think we can go very far,” said Lookman. “I believe the more games we play together, the better we will become and the more dangerous we will become.

“I think, with time, we’ll be an even better team. We posed a dangerous threat throughout the game. 

“The more chances we create as attacking players, the more goals we will score – it’s just important for us to create those chances.”

Lookman set England on their way against Andorra with an eighth-minute strike that could have come straight off the training ground at USM Finch Farm.

Davies found the onrushing Kenny down the right flank and the right-back picked out Lookman, who scampered past two Andorra defenders before finishing clinically to make it 1-0.

England doubled their lead midway through the first half through Brentford’s Ezri Konsa, before Calvert-Lewin got England’s third in first-half stoppage-time – tapping into an empty net after more good work from Lookman.

Calvert-Lewin made it four three minutes after the break – lashing home from the penalty spot after Konsa was brought down in the area.

Liverpool's Dominic Solanke added a fifth 10 minutes from time, before a strike from Arsenal's Reiss Nelson and a Christian Garcia own goal completed the rout.

England will round off their campaign on Tuesday evening when they travel to Edinburgh to face a Scotland side featuring Everton Under-23s striker Fraser Hornby.

Despite their qualification already being secured, Lookman insists there is no danger of the young Lions taking their foot off the gas.

He also set out his ambition to continue his impressive development and one day make the step up to the England senior squad.

“I’m pleased with the performance of the team. I’m happy to get the three points and qualification for the Euros in the summer," he added.

“We want to keep the momentum going against Scotland. Every game is important for me.

“There are so many young players in the seniors, it shows there is a clear pathway. If you see that, it motivates you and that drives you on.”
