Pro Golfer Sharma: I'm An Evertonian Now!

India’s number one golfer Shubhankar Sharma paid a visit to Goodison Park and USM Finch Farm recently – and immediately declared, “I’m an Evertonian now!”.

Having just turned 22 during the Open Championship, the two-time European Tour winner is considered one of the game’s brightest prospects.

Sharma’s visit to Everton came hot on the heels of his impressive performance at Carnoustie where, playing in just his third major, he made the cut and finished in a tie for 51st position.

As well as enjoying tours of the Grand Old Lady and the Blues’ state-of-the-art training complex, the world number 88 also caught up with keen golfers Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane.

Speaking to evertontv, Sharma said: “They’re wonderful guys. They spoke to me for about five minutes and asked me my Open Championship experience. I know all of my friends back home will be very jealous! Most of them follow the Premier League.

“I didn’t have a Premier League team but now I’ll be an Evertonian. I got an Everton shirt as well and I got my name on it.

“When the season starts I’ll try to follow every game and I’ll have something to cheer about - and give my friends who support other teams a hard time!”
