Everton temporarily climbed up to sixth position in the Premier League this weekend - and Tom Davies is looking even higher after two back-to-back home wins put the Blues right in the mix at the top end of the table.

Manchester United’s victory at Middlesbrough on Sunday demoted Everton back down to seventh but the 4-0 success over Hull City, coupled with Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat at the Hawthorns, means Ronald Koeman’s side sit level with Gunners on 50 points.

Davies believes it’s a healthy position to be in going to into the season’s final stretch when the Blues play five of the clubs currently occupying places in the top six.

Next up is the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday 1 April, followed quickly by a trip to Old Trafford three days later.

“We are keeping an eye on who is above us as well as watching who is below us,” Davies told evertontv. “The more results we get, the higher we can go.

“Today is another good one as Arsenal have slipped up, so it was a good day for us.

“It’s been a great few results which we’ve had. Hopefully we can keep that going. It was important to get the win before the international break so we can go into our next games on a high.

“We are going really well and the international break has come at a bad time for us. I’m sure we’ll get back together after it and we’ll try to carry on.”

Davies scored his first Everton goal when Manchester City were dispatched 4-0 in January.

Having known what it’s like to net at Goodison, the England youth international understood exactly how Dominic Calvert-Lewin felt when he got off the mark against the Tigers on Saturday.

“I’m made up for him to get his first goal, Davies said. “His debut [against Southampton] didn’t go as he planned but I’m glad today he’s managed to get a goal.

“To get the goal summed up his performance. He worked hard and I’m just glad I managed to set him up.”
