Stadium Address
Merseyrail Community Stadium
Haig Ave,
Southport
PR8 6JZ

Haig Avenue was founded in 1905 with Merseyrail buying the sponsorship of the ground in 2012, making Southport FC’s alliance with the train operator one of the longest-standing partnerships in English football. The stadium has a capacity of 6,008 (1,660 seated) and is situated in Blowick. The stadium’s highest recorded gate was back in 1932 and 1968, both in FA Cup action, where Southport FC hosted Newcastle United and Everton respectively, 20,010 supporters were in attendance at both matches.

The Blue Girls have played their home matches at Southport’s Merseyrail Community Stadium since the start of the 2018-19 season after the move was made from the Select Security Stadium in Widnes in September 2018.

Some of the highlights from this season’s WSL campaign at Southport include holding last season’s champions Chelsea to a 0-0 draw and boss Willie Kirk’s first game in charge ending in a memorable 3-1 win over city rivals Liverpool Women in December. Kirk will be hoping to make a fortress of Southport in the months to come as the Blue Girls look to kick on in 2019!
